Family Christmas | The Teague Way

For the last 50+ years the Teague family has gathered together on Christmas Eve to celebrate Christmas.

Nanny (who is now the graceful age of 87) and she would kill me if she knew I put her age out there spends weeks preparing for a few hours of fun.

She bakes 10 batches of chocolate chip cookies, 10 batches of sugar cookies with chocolate icing in the middle, 4 batches of peanut brittle, 4 batches of fudge, and 4 double batches of date balls.  Each family receives a basket of goodies that will last months after the Christmas holiday.

Then she prepares her chicken that she cooks for an entire day to make home made chicken and dumplings.  Can I say that I haven't never tasted a finer meal and no one has ever come close to her chicken and dumplings.

After stuffing our faces with the amazing chicken and dumplings (and maybe 2 or 3 trips back for more) we start preparing for the famous "Dirty Santa".  This game has become mighty popular since we don't really have any small kids except for a couple and even most of the great grand children are grown and in college.

Everyone is patiently waiting the start of Dirty Santa.

The gifts are all placed in the center and we count and make sure there are enough gifts for all the people.

Then the numbers are put into a hat and everyone draws out a number.

The #1 goes first and opens the gift.

The next person can choose to pick a gift from the center or take another gift that has already been opened.  We play that the gift can be stolen three times before it is considered "dead"

It was a great Christmas Eve and we had fun like normal!

Trapper had to hop in dad's lap for one more belly rub.
